July 28, 2020Statistics Canada data shows after a rough April, retail sales made some gains for the month of May. However, a closer look at the data implies that many retail sectors in Atlantic Canada still have a long way to go to reach historical sales levels.
“It’s very encouraging,” said Jim Cormier, Director, Government Relations (Atlantic), Retail Council of Canada. “I don’t want to put a negative spin on it. I just don’t want people to go away thinking the retail sector is OK now, because they’re not.”
