Retail Sales Associate (RSA) Certification Course

This Canadian industry-leading employee development program will provide the foundational skills necessary to become an expert in all aspects of retail sales. Topics covered include customer service and sales, inventory, store appearance, security and safety, and more.

Topics covered include:

  • You, The Professional: This module teaches the finer points of acting and dressing professionally, and working in a team with others.
  • The Customer: Customer service and sales go hand-in-hand. This module leads students through the sales cycle: providing in-store customer service, making the sale, closing the sale, and providing after-sales service.
  • The Store and Its Products: This module explains how sales associates can expand their traditional roles and contribute to the monitoring and managing of inventory.   As well, this module teaches sales associates how to boost sales by improving the store appearance. Special attention is paid to maintaining stock and product displays.
  • Company Asset Protection and Workplace Safety: Sales associates have an important part to play in loss prevention. This module describes how sales associates can identify security threats and prevent loss.

This course is available in an online format or self-directed version.  To earn the RSA professional designation, sales associates must:

  1. Complete the Retail Sales Associate Course Content;
  2. Pass a multiple-choice examination;
  3. Pass an in-store evaluation conducted by The Corporate Research Group; and
  4. Log 600 hours of on-the-job experience as an RSA

Retail First Level Manager (FLM) Certification Program

This Canadian industry-leading employee development program will help store managers to build sound business skills to help them achieve their retail career goals and effectively lead their team. Topics covered include leadership, human resources, operations, administration, and more.

  • Sales: This module teaches how to make sales, and how to motivate a sales team to meet and exceed sales goals.
  • Customer Service: This module examines the sales cycle: from providing in-store customer service, to initiating and closing the sale, and providing after-sales service. Also examined are ways to evaluate and improve customer service and satisfaction levels.
  • Administration: Effective administrative skills allow first level managers to improve productivity and customer service. Topics covered in this module include payroll, complying with legislation and contracts.
  • Planning: Planning skills are a critical factor in achieving business success. This module describes budget and business planning, competitive research and product mix.

This course is available in an online format or self-directed version.  To earn the FLM professional designation, first level managers must:

  1. Complete the Retail First Level Manager Course Content;
  2. Pass a multiple-choice examination;
  3. Pass a performance interview conducted by The Corporate Research Group; and
  4. Log one year of on-the-job experience working in retail.
