To help prevent the worst effects of climate change, and to align with the 1.5°C climate goal, a growing number of companies are actively working to reduce their greenhouse gas, and some, are pledging to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. It is estimated that Canada’s retail sector accounts for 10.5% of greenhouse gas emissions. With emerging climate policy, shifting consumer preferences towards sustainable products, rising investor concerns around climate risk, rapidly changing technologies and an evolving supply chain, retailers face increasing pressure to lower carbon footprints and develop sustainable supply chains.
This webinar will serve as a high-level introduction for retailers to learn about key mega trends driving retailers to reduce carbon footprints. Learn about taking action; establishing a baseline, carbon footprinting, and key categories per the GHG protocol (Scope 1, 2 and 3). There will also be an overview of direct and indirect ghg emission management within the retail sector and how leading retailers have taken action to reduce emissions across the 3 Scopes.
