The Strategic Leadership Series provides a unique opportunity for vendors and suppliers who are looking for insights and business strategies from some of Quebec’s most successful retail leaders and biggest retail brands.  As a vendor and supplier only event, speakers can speak openly knowing media or other retail competitors will not be in attendance.

Luc L’Archevêque, Senior Vice President, Merchandising & General Manager, Québec, Sobeys Inc.

Mr. Luc L’Archevêque, who completed a bachelor’s degree in Operations and Production Management at the école des hautes études commerciales (HEC), began his career as Buyer for the Fresh division of a food retailer, before joining Sobeys Quebec in 1997 as Buyer for the Grocery sector. Over the next 8 years, he successively occupied the positions of Marketing Coordinator and Category Manager, Grocery. In 2006, after spending a year with Mars Canada, he returned to Sobeys Quebec as Senior Director, Merchandising, Multi-Banner. Following his transfer to the IGA Grocery Merchandising team in December 2016, as Senior Director, he was promoted Vice-President, Merchandising Grocery for IGA and IGA extra banners in April 2017. In May 2019, he was appointed Senior Vice President, Merchandising & General Manager, Québec.

 

Alain Ménard, Senior Vice President, Retail Operations Sobeys Inc.

As Senior Vice-President, Alain Ménard is responsible for the supervision and development of the IGA, IGA extra and Rachelle – Béry banners, ie more than 475 stores in Quebec. He has been involved in the food industry for over 35 years and holds a McGill / HEC EMBA.

Alain is responsible for the strategic orientation of the banners in terms of merchant support, development of store programs as well as all the development of IT tools that support supermarket processes and needs.

Before joining Sobeys Quebec in 2004, Alain worked in leadership roles with companies, Metro, Valdi Foods, Maxi and Provigo.

Mr. Alain Ménard worked for an independent merchant from the age of 13 to the age of 21, while still studying.
