June 1, 2020Retail Council of Canada has issued a statement with our industry partners calling on the Ontario government to put in place a moratorium on commercial evictions, in which we drew attention to the urgent need for an immediate moratorium on commercial evictions.
While we know that Premier Ford is taking this issue very seriously, it is June 1st, and rent is due. The Ontario Government has asked RCC to run a poll, to collect additional data around how many landlords are applying to the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) program in Ontario.
We appreciate you taking the time on this important issue. All data will be kept strictly confidential, with aggregated information shared with political staff in government with an eye to supporting our retail members on this file.
