Border restrictions implemented due to COVID-19 spread in New Brunswick

The New Brunswick government decided to immediately place border restrictions on one of the two Quebec areas that had previously been granted permission for its residents to cross into northern New Brunswick, without having to self-isolate. 

Since August 1, 2020, Quebec’s Temiscouata Municipal Regional County had been added to the Northern New Brunswick travel bubble to allow these Quebec residents to access services in the neighbouring town of Edmunston, NB. However, due to the increasing case numbers of COVID-19 in this part of Quebec, the only residents of this region who will be able to enter the Edmunston area without having to self-isolate will be those who travel to Edmunston for medical appointments, approved work and shared child custody. 

Quebec’s Avignon Municipal Regional County is the other region that was invited into the northern New Brunswick travel bubble. This region has not had a significant rise in COVID-19 cases and these residents will continue to be allowed to enter their neighbouring New Brunswick community of Campbellton, without having to self-isolate.
