Ontario’s Waterloo Region to remain in Step 1

June 25, 2021

The Region of Waterloo has announced that it will be implementing a Section 22 order, which will keep the region in Step 1 of Ontario’s reopening framework until mid-July.

This means that stores within malls in the Region of Waterloo will not reopen June 30, 2021, non-essential stores will remain at 15% capacity, and essential stores will remain at 25% capacity. For more on how to calculate your capacity, see RCC’s capacity calculator.

Today, the Porcupine Health Unit rescinded the Section 22 order keeping that zone shut down meaning that the region moves into Step 1 of reopening as of today.

We are not aware of any other regions considering delaying reopening. RCC will keep members apprised of any further developments.
