Strategy on plastics in Quebec: Consultation opened last week

November 23, 2023

As Quebec Environment Minister Benoit Charrette recently mentioned, Quebec intends to adopt a strategy on plastics to better manage and reduce their use.

The Government of Quebec has announced that it will hold a public consultation from November 15, 2023 to December 15, 2023 on the reduction and responsible management of plastics in Quebec. As part of this consultation, RCC is invited to travel to Quebec City on November 30, 2023 to take part in a forum on the issue. It is also important that members share their position so that the government takes into account the reality of our sector.

The proposed Strategy for the Reduction and Responsible Management of Plastics in Quebec (2024-2029) (in French) aims to encourage the reduction of plastic use, replace disposable products with more sustainable products, and promote the recyclability of plastics.

We also invite you to read the consultation document on the draft Strategy for the Reduction and Responsible Management of Plastics in Quebec (in French).
