49% of Manitoba retail employees to split almost $51 million through Risk Recognition program

July 30, 2020

Premier Brian Pallister announced that over 33,000 employees from the Manitoba retail sector will be amongst the 78,000 workers that will equally share $120 million being paid out as part of the Manitoba Risk Recognition program. Following CRA deductions, eligible recipients will receive a direct deposit of $1,377 in recognition of the risk they took to serve Manitobans during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over half of all recipients are from the Manitoba retail sector, who will collectively receive almost $51 million as a direct result of the RCC’s strong advocacy that ensured retail workers were captured in the rules of the program.

RCC is excited that our industry’s contributions at the height of the pandemic are being recognized.
