Labour Market Outlook predicts retail and quick service restaurant labour shortages

March 21, 2023

The Manitoba Labour Market Outlook report for 2022 to 2026 predicts labour shortages in the retail and food services sector, both on the front line, in leadership, as well as throughout the supply chain.

The report and labour market outlook data are now available online and include detailed information on specific occupations. The Manitoba labour market outlook is designed to help employers prepare, and help parents, teachers, and guidance counsellors identify employment path opportunities.

Next to healthcare, wholesale and retail trade are expected to see the highest demand and number of openings, while retail manager positions are one of the highest gap areas between need and supply. Food counter and kitchen workers charted amongst the highest volume of anticipated openings.
