Manitoba confirms plans to raise minimum wage to $15-an-hour

November 21, 2022

The Manitoba government has introduced the Minimum Wage Adjustment Act, which will raise the minimum hourly wage to $14.15 on April 1, 2023, and again to $15.00 on October 1, 2023.

The current provincial hourly minimum wage was raised on October 1, 2022, to $13.50 from $11.95 after very limited consultation. While politics is the primary driver as the government takes steps to better position itself against the NDP leading into the Fall 2023 election, the high rate of Manitoba’s inflation has been cited as the reason to raise the minimum wage by 25% or $3.05 over a 12-month period.
