RCC meets with Manitoba Environment Minister

RCC enjoyed a wide-ranging discussion late last week with Hon. Jeff Wharton, Manitoba’s Minister of Environment, Climate, and Parks. During the meeting, RCC was able to outline the extent of the retail sector’s sustainability actions in and outside of regulation, as well as identify a number of ways that the retail community could work more collaboratively with the Government to advance environmental outcomes.

RCC has expressed some high level recommendations for when the province proceeds with updating its recycling regulations, and requested the province remain committed to harmonization as they oversee the transition of Manitoba’s residential recycling program to full Extended Producer Responsibility.
