StatsCan: Retail jobs down in February 2023

Retail jobs nationally declined slightly and remain below where they were last year, according to the latest jobs report from Statistica Canada.

Jobs decreased -0.3% month-over-month and -1.5% year-over-year in the month (unadjusted) of February 2023.

Across all industries, employment held steady in February (+22,000 positions and up 0.1%), and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.0%, just shy of the record-low 4.9% observed in June and July of 2022.
