RCC advocacy results in elimination of mandatory fees on paper checkout bags

December 6, 2022

RCC has succeeded in having the Plastic Bag Reduction Act amended to remove the mandatory fee associated with providing a customer with a paper checkout bag. This change is effective immediately and will provide administrative relief to all RCC members. Given that the mandatory fee on paper checkout bags was size dependent, RCC’s successful advocacy will be of significant benefit to the drive through service offered by its quick service restaurant members.

RCC is pleased with this result. However, note that the mandatory minimum fee of $1.00 remains on reusable checkout bags.
