Retail and restaurants to follow tighter capacity restrictions in P.E.I.

December 21, 2021

Beginning December 18, 2021, PEI’s COVID-19 restrictions have increased to help mitigate the spread of new COVID cases. Retail is limited to 50% capacity while restaurants are limited to 2 metres distance between tables (max of 10 people per table). Physical distancing and mask wearing will be strictly enforced while COVID related signage will be expected. Individual gatherings are limited to a ‘steady 10’. These restrictions will remain in place until January 8, 2022. See press release.

While the press release makes reference to the need to use “floor markers”, RCC has been able to confirm with a senior official from PEI Public Health that given retailers already have strong COVID-19 operational plans and signage in place to keep customers and employee safe, floor markers as such are not specifically required.
