Manitoba temporarily bans commercial evictions

Following weeks of extensive advocacy by RCC, the Manitoba government has announced a temporary ban on commercial evictions during the COVID-19 pandemic as part of an effort to drive increased participation in the federal-provincial cost-shared Canadian Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) program. RCC, along with other business associations, highlighted that many landlords eligible for this funding are not participating, and we strongly urged the province to introduce a temporary ban to motivate uptake of the CECRA program.
