Current food labelling flexibilities extended until December 31, 2020

September 10, 2020

The Government of Canada has agreed to extend current food labelling flexibilities to December 31, 2020 for:

  • Foodservice products; and
  • Pre-packaged meat products.

This means retailers can continue to sell food labelled for foodservice establishments such as restaurants, as well as pre-packaged meat from other countries such as the United States, as long as certain conditions are met.

RCC continues to work with all levels of government and other industry partners for greater flexibility in sourcing food as the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve.
