Canada’s top Medical Officer keeps Halloween alive

October 15, 2020

Tuesday’s announcement by Dr. Teressa Tam, stating that there is no need to cancel Halloween, provided that safety precautions and social distancing are practiced, is welcomed news for many kids, parents and retailers in a year full of uncertainties.

RCC knows that Halloween may look and feel different this year and has been working diligently with governments and Public Health Units across the country to prevent them from “cancelling” Halloween celebrations in light of rising COVID-19 cases. Our efforts have paid off and we’ve been pleased to see many provinces across the country have released guidelines over the past two weeks outlining how people can safely celebrate the occasion while still adhering to public health recommendations.

The federal government and Ontario have made public comments favourable to safe Halloween celebrations and both are expected to release their formal guidelines in the coming days.

Our website has links and further information on each of the provincial plans (as well as creative suggestions we’ve collected by working with industry partners and retailers to help make Halloween 2020 safe and enjoyable).
