CFIA confirms flexibility on requirements for romaine lettuce

As a result of RCC’s efforts, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) confirmed that pre-harvest sampling and testing will be an acceptable option under certain conditions for importing romaine lettuce from Salinas, California this fall.
RCC had been advocating for this flexibility with its industry partners so as to minimize potential supply chain disruptions and costs for members. An official communication will be issued through MyCFIA this week.
