Nova Scotia Budget 2024: Continued Focus on Healthcare, Housing and Indexing of Income Tax Brackets

March 5, 2024

The Nova Scotia 2024 budget prioritizes healthcare and housing, reflecting the province’s population growth. Of interest to retailers, starting January 1, 2025, it will index income tax brackets and credits, boosting disposable income and potential retail spending. The budget introduces the Cellular for Nova Scotia Program for wider cellular access and continues investment in major highways and infrastructure. Despite forecasting a $40 million surplus for 2023-24, deficits are expected over the next four years, with net debt surpassing $20 billion in 2024-25.
