October 18, 2022

RCC advocated this week that an affordability and inflation lens be applied to Finance Canada’s Consultation on the Renewal of Canada’s Tariff Preference Programs for Developing Countries as now is not the time for Canada to be adding new costs to consumer goods.

The comments explain conditions that the retail sector is operating under have shifted dramatically in recent years, including Canada’s supply chains facing major inflationary pressures, unprecedented impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, adverse weather events, and political instability in Europe.
