Retail Council of Canada and its grocery retail members met with officials from Health Canada on May 19 on proposed new regulations for supplemented foods such as vitamin-enhanced water, juices, nutritional bars, confectionery, and gum. RCC advocated for a predictable, consistent approach to regulating these products in order to help promote innovation and speed to market for this growing product category.
RCC’s comments were well received, and a formal regulatory proposal is expected from the government for consultation in June.
