Flammability requirements for children’s costumes, uniforms and pajamas in Canada – Health Canada Notice
January 19, 2021Due to some confusion around the definition of a kid’s costume and the related regulatory requirements, specifically the flammability requirements, Health Canada has published a letter informing retailers how it defines a toy costume, costumes that are not toys and what it considers kids clothing or pajamas. These differences are important as each category has its own flammability requirements. Thus, it is recommended that retailers selling children’s clothing or toys review Health Canada’s letter to ensure compliance.
