StatCan: Trends in businesses’ needs for personal protective equipment

December 17, 2020

StatCan says 66.3% of Canadian businesses needed or expected to need Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to meet their COVID-19 health and safety obligations. This included a high number of retailers, 80.1%, second only to health care and social assistance businesses. There were fewer Canadian businesses overall needing PPE than in previous months, except in the Prairies, where PPE demand increased. Items like shoe coverings and nitrile gloves were considered hardest to find, thermometers and facial shields being the easiest.
