Vancouver to Fine Commercial Buildings That Don’t Reduce GHG

June 4, 2024

Attention Retailers Operating in Vancouver: Owners of large commercial buildings (over 100,000 square feet) should have submitted their energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data by June 1, 2024. Reporting is mandatory for all buildings exceeding this size threshold. To submit your data and access additional resources, including information on the Energy Star Portfolio Manager and the Building Performance Reporting System (BPRS) Owner Dashboard, please click here. Be aware that the building owner is responsible for compliance with this By-Law, and failure to meet the June 1 deadline will incur fines as alluded to in the CBC story linked below.  The City of Vancouver has setup a help centre for building owners to reach out to if they are delayed in reporting their data. The help centre can be reached by phone at 604-330-3797 or by email at energycarbonreport@vancouver.ca.  See CBC story.
