Edmonton Paper, Reusable Bag Fee to Increase

Attention retailers operating in Edmonton: As announced last year, the City of Edmonton is moving forward with its scheduled increase in paper and reusable bag fees, despite concerns around affordability for consumers who don’t have their own options. Starting Monday, July 1, 2024, the minimum cost of a paper bag will rise from 15 cents to 25 cents, and the cost of a reusable bag will increase from $1 to $2. Businesses will continue to retain all proceeds to support their product and operational costs for the bags. All other aspects of the bylaw remain unchanged.
