International Sustainability Standards Board expected to release disclosure standards later this month
June 13, 2023The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) will be launching its first two standards, IFRS S1 and IFRS S2, during the week of June 26-30, 2023:
- IFRS S1 ‘General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information’, and;
- IFRS S2 ‘Climate-related Disclosures’
These standards will be of importance to retailers because they will help set the bar globally for consistent and comparable disclosures, including information on metrics, targets, climate related risks/opportunities, and more. Ultimately, these standards will help investors and other stakeholders compare sustainability performance across companies and inform investment decisions.
Following the release of the standards, RCC will be hosting an ESG & Climate Action Committee Meeting (date to be confirmed) for members to review and discuss the implications of the standards.
