Alberta UCP announces new cabinet

Premier Danielle Smith and the newly re-elected UCP government unveiled their new cabinet on Friday, June 9, 2023, slightly reduced from 27, the 25 members of cabinet represent a mix of returning ministers and new appointments.

Several crucial portfolios were left without an incumbent after six former ministers lost their jobs — including Jason Copping in Health and Tyler Shandro in Justice.  Also left open were Finance, Environment, Social Services, and Mental Health. Mike Ellis who RCC had been working with on a retail safety and crime initiative returns as minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services as well as being appointed Deputy Premier.

RCC will be reaching out to each of the key ministers our sector engages with in  coming days to highlight priorities or resume the work underway pre-election.
