Alberta Fall legislative session begins

Alberta MLAs returned to the legislature this week for the first sitting since the May 2023 election as the government prepares to launch its campaign to exit Canada’s Pension Plan.

Opening day featured the reading of the Throne Speech, and RCC is presently assessing the nuances of how this vision will be implemented through the legislative process, and what implications it will have on key retail issues including jobs, economic growth, retail security, and other top priorities.

RCC continues to work with Alberta’s Safety Ministry on a collaborative strategy to address the rise in retail crime as well as the Jobs Ministry on opportunities to fill job vacancy gaps that exist in some areas.
