RCC Initiates High-Level Meeting with Alberta Safety Minister to Counter Retail Crime Surge
February 28, 2024Retail Council of Canada has requested a meeting with Honourable Mike Ellis, Alberta’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services, to discuss the newly established and RCC-led Alberta Retail Crime Taskforce. Endorsed by the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police, this coalition unites retail, law enforcement, and government experts to tackle increasing retail crime. Led by co-chairs Shannon Harrigan (Edmonton Police Service) and Brian Strauss (Sobeys Limited), the Taskforce is crafting strategies to protect Alberta’s 17,000 stores and 265,000 employees, aiming to bolster safety and economic stability across the province.
