Manitoba legislative session resumes

March 7, 2023

Manitoba’s final legislative session resumed last week, and will sit for 45 days and rise for the final time before the October election in early June. Last week included the second reading of two liquor bills, one that will (among other features) enable greater home delivery for those currently selling liquor, and the second being the watered-down version of what was initially intended to provide opportunities for new retailers to sell liquor. The second bill is likely to be selected as one of the five the opposition is entitled to pull from further progress during a session, the equivalent of killing it during an election year.

The PC’s Budget is released today, March 7, 2023, and RCC will be attending the lockup in person and intends to report back to members on any material announcements impacting the retail sector.
