Manitobans asked to only shop for essentials in stores

November 19, 2020

Dr. Brent Roussin, Manitoba’s Chief Provincial Public Health Officer has called on Manitobans to shop in stores for essentials only, and stated that additional measures will be considered if he sees excessive community activity related to Black Friday shopping this week.

Dr. Roussin has asked Manitobans to use online and curbside options over in-store visits to avoid unnecessary activity and warned that individuals and businesses could be fined for not following Health Order direction. RCC continues to advocate for all retail stores to be reopened in some capacity. However, presently, the government is looking to narrow what they deem as critical products if they feel in-store activity is unmanageable. The government has also announced a new specific fine of $298 for individuals not wearing a mask in public places, including retail and restaurants.
