RCC meets with Winnipeg Mayor on safety issues

Winnipeg Mayor Scott Gillingham (right, pictured above) requested a short-notice meeting with RCC to discuss a few issues that are in early development that may impact retail stores, with more detail to be provided if they move forward.

At this meeting, John Graham (left, pictured above), Director of Government Relations, expressed concern over the slow pace the City government is working with RCC on retail crime issues, in particular its support for strategies developed to address perpetrators that are most violent and prolific.  

RCC was pleased to secure the commitment of the Mayor to investigate how they could improve their level of support, recognizing its not only a safety and economic issue but one of broad community reputation.
