Retail jobs up 1.1% in June 2023

Retail jobs increased in wholesale and retail trade by 33,000 positions, up +1.1% month-over-month for June 2023, according to Statistics Canada. That was part of the increase of 60,000 positions across the country.

Employment in the industry has generally trended up in recent months, with a net increase of 98,000 from December 2022 to June 2023. On the whole, employment increased by 60,000 (+0.3%) in June, driven by gains in full-time work (+110,000; +0.7%).
