Abbott baby formula recall issued by Canadian Food Inspection Agency

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall on certain Abbott brand baby formula linked to a similar recall issued by the FDA in the U.S. because of possible microbial contamination.

The recall is isolated to powder formulas, including Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare, manufactured at the Sturgis, Michigan plant in the U.S. with an expiration date of April 1, 2022 or later. No Abbott liquid formulas or other Abbott nutrition powders and brands are impacted at this time. More information can be found here.

As of now, there are no reported incidents in Canada, but there are 4 reported illnesses in the U.S., with 1 death.
