New measures for fully vaccinated international travellers to Canada

September 8, 2021

On September 3, 2021, the Government of Canada reconfirmed it will re-open Canadian borders to fully vaccinated international travellers on September 7, 2021. Fully vaccinated foreign nationals will be able to enter Canada for non-essential reasons such as tourism as long as they meet entry requirements, including:

  • Show proof of having been fully vaccinated at least 14 days before entering Canada
  • Have a valid pre-arrival COVID-19 molecular test taken no more than 72 hours before their flight (or arrival at a land border crossing). Antigen “rapid” tests are not accepted.
  • Be asymptomatic
  • Submit all mandatory information via ArriveCAN
  • Take a test on arrival, if selected

The Public Health Agency of Canada has developed an infographic and fact sheet to help travellers better understand everything they need to do before, during, and after their entry to Canada.
