StatCan: Retail job vacancies down in Q3 2022 to 4.9%

Statistics Canada said the job vacancies rate in retail ticked down to 4.9% in 2022’s third quarter (Q3), a drop from 5.2% in Q2. This put retail job vacancies in Canada below the 5.4% Q3 all-industry rate going into the holidays, also down from 5.7% in Q2.

The “retail salesperson” role saw the second-largest annual job vacancy increase across all positions, a 4,230 rise from 2021 to Q3 2022 (second only to registered nurses at a 4,790 rise).
