On April 1, 2021, the base wage will increase by $0.35 to $12.50.
In early 2020, the government announced four special increases, over a two year period, to the province’s base wage. The arranged increase for April 1, 2021 was scheduled to be relative to the change in the consumer price index plus $0.25.
On October 1, 2021, the final of the four special increases will come into effect. The October 1 increase will be $0.25. Following the October increase, the government will return to adjusting its base wage on April 1 of each year, based on the change to the consumer price index.
