Newfoundland and Labrador to loosen COVID-19 restrictions

March 10, 2021

Effective March 13, 2021, the Avalon region (St. John’s area) will move to Alert Level 4 and the rest of the province will move to Alert Level 3.  See press release.  This is great news for retailers across the province as:

  • All retailers in the Avalon region will be allowed to open at 50 per cent capacity.
  • The ability for retailers in the rest of the province to welcome customers in-store will only be limited by the ability to maintain physical distancing.

Background

At Alert Level 4, spas and hair salons can open.  Cinemas must remain closed.  Restaurants are closed for in-person dining

At Alert Level 3, cinemas remain closed.  Restaurants can re-open for in-person dining with a recommended occupancy of 50%.  See restaurant guidelines.

Information on the Alert Levels can be found here.
