Ontario provincial budget & election soon to be called

The Ontario government will table its annual budget in the legislature on Thursday, April 28, 2022, days before the mandated May 3, 2022 deadline for the Ontario election. Ontario has no plan to pass the budget – instead using it as a lead-in to the election campaign.

Following the election, whoever is elected will need to table a new budget bill to enact spending, as the order paper for legislation is cleared between sessions (and an election automatically triggers a new legislative session).

RCC will continue to advocate and update Ontario retailers through the election and, ahead of the vote, provide resources through the Vote Retail program.
