Ontario sets up hotline to allow more employer-led vaccine clinics

December 22, 2021

To increase booster vaccination capacity, Ontario is opening up a pathway for business groups and large corporate employers to host workplace and community clinics. In order to set-up an employer-led vaccine clinic, employers will have to vaccinate members of the local community in addition to employees (this can include the families of the employees).

If you are an employer interested in hosting a clinic, you must meet the following criteria:

  • provide your own Human and Health Resources (onsite or contracted nurses, doctors or other regulated health professionals who can administer vaccines)
  • have a facility, or can arrange for an alternative facility in the community, such as a community hall or warehouse, to run a vaccine clinic safely
  • offer vaccination to eligible workers and community members.

To initiate the process, interested employers can call a newly setup employer-led vaccination hotline at the Ontario Together Contact Centre by phoning 1-888-777-0554 (press 1 for English, or 2 for French). Prior to phoning, members should have on hand (1) where they intend to host the location, (2) the name of the health unit in which the vaccination location resides, (3) how many employees they are looking to vaccinate at a location, and (4) how many members of the broader community.

Locations will be prioritized based on how many vaccines the host site plans on administering (e.g. a large vaccination location will be prioritized over a small location).

In a scenario where members are hitting roadblocks, RCC can engage with the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade to understand what is going on with your application.
