PEI budget features small business tax cut

June 18, 2020

The PEI government was unable to table a budget in advance of the COVID-19 shutdown. Today, the government finally tabled its budget which features a small business tax cut (from 3% to 2%), investments in health care, education, clean energy and active transportation. After a string of successive balanced budgets and years of impressive growth, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a $3.7 million deficit for 2019-20 and a projected deficit of $172 million for 2020-21.
