Municipality of Côte-St-Luc, Quebec making face coverings mandatory

June 26, 2020

Beginning July, 1, 2020, face coverings are required to be worn in all public places in the Municipality of Côte-St-Luc. According to the by-law, retailers will be responsible for enforcing the regulations and are liable to a fine of between $100 to $500. Retailers therefore need to be able to prove they have made reasonable efforts to implement and enforce the program.

Article 2.5 stipulates: “The owner and/or manager of a Commercial Establishment shall not be guilty of an infraction (…) if he proves that he used reasonable diligence to require the mandatory wearing of Face Coverings for his customers inside his establishment and also used reasonable diligence to implement a safety and supervision programme.”
