Manitoba Retail Crime Task Force established

September 24, 2020

As a key outcome of RCC’s Retail Crime Roundtable event held earlier this year in Winnipeg, the province of Manitoba has announced the establishment of the Manitoba Retail Crime Task Force, mandated to develop and implement strategies that reduce crime and enhance safety in stores across the province. The executive task force appointments include senior representatives from Manitoba Justice, Winnipeg Police Service, RCMP, private security firms, along with retailers Rexall, Canadian Footwear and Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries.

RCC’s John Graham has been appointed co-chair and will be establishing a retail working group to ensure RCC member participation in the process. As a part of the announcement, Winnipeg Police provided an update on Project Stop Lifting, an initiative that has targeted prolific offenders.
