Manitoba announces immunization passports and vaccination lottery

June 11, 2021

The Manitoba government has announced two new programs to increase vaccination rates, including a new immunization passport and a $2 million Manitoba Vaccination Lottery that features a series of $100,000 cash draws and $25,000 student scholarships for Manitobans who have been vaccinated by two milestone dates.

The new immunization passport is available for Manitobans 14 days after receiving both vaccination doses, with a digital or optional physical immunization card featuring an individual’s name, and a QR code that links to a confirmation of their vaccination status.

Benefits of the card include the ability to travel interprovincially without having to self-isolate for the mandatory two weeks upon return, exemptions from close exposure self-isolation requirements, more flexible health centre visitation rights, and potential access to large-scale events such as Blue Bomber games.
