Ontario starts lifting restrictions

February 1, 2022

Ontario has begun a phased reopening. January 31, 2022 at 12:01 a.m., marked the first portion of that reopening.

As of yesterday:

  • Capacities for restaurants (including indoor dining in retail settings) and cinemas increase to 50% capacity.
  • Ontario removes its “Work from home except where necessary” regulatory requirement.

Two additional phased reopening dates are planned, each 21-days after one another. Of note, on February 21, 2022 at 12:01 a.m., Ontario lifts the 50% capacity restriction on retail and malls. As of that moment, retail and mall capacity will be limited to the number of patrons that can maintain a physical distance of 2 metres in the space.
