Manitoba announced further easing of restrictions

As active cases and demands on the health system improve, the Government of Manitoba has announced accelerated plans to further relax COVID restrictions currently impacting a number of sectors and services.

While no immediate impact on retail that continues to be set at 100% capacity, the province has set March 1 as the date for ending the province’s Proof of Vaccination requirement, and March 15 at the timeline for ending mandatory indoor masking requirements.

New Health Order Updates

However effective 12:01 am Tuesday, February 15 the following updates to Manitoba’s Health Order will go into effect:

• Capacity limits will be eliminated in venues such as restaurants, licensed premises, entertainment venues, indoor and outdoor sporting events and casinos, as well as gatherings at private residences.
• Capacity limits will be removed for outdoor public gatherings but will be limited to 50 people indoors unless proof of vaccination is required.
• There are no changes to retail and personal services.

Additionally, asymptomatic close contacts of a person who tests positive for COVID-19 will no longer be required to self-isolate, regardless of their vaccination status.

Additionally, public health will remove self-isolation requirements for unvaccinated individuals travelling interprovincially.

Masking and end of Proof of Vaccination Program

The province plans to remove proof of vaccination requirements effective March 1. Mask requirements and other restrictions will be lifted, effective March 15.
