Health Canada releases supplemented foods guidelinesAugust 3, 2022
Final regulations for Supplemented Foods were recently released along with guidance materials for industry.
Supplemented Foods are products with added supplemental ingredients, such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, or caffeine. The regulations change how these products are approved and labelled, including the introduction of a new Supplemented Foods Facts table, cautionary statements, and a Caution Identifier symbol for the front of products such as caffeinated energy drinks. Further information on the new regulations can be found on Health Canada’s new Supplemented Foods website or by downloading this infographic.
Health Canada will be holding a webinar for industry to answer questions on the new regulations this Fall. RCC will ensure to provide readers with notification once the webinar date is confirmed.
