EVERY retailer wants their employees to leave the workplace at the end of every day healthy and safe. At Groupe Dynamite, the company’s “Think safe. Work safe. Be safe.” initiative represents the culmination of a series of efforts that were made over the last few years to make this a reality and to improve the company’s overall health and safety experience for its employees.
In order to establish the “Think safe. Work safe. Be safe.” initiative and a holistic approach to safety and prevention, the company invited a group of participants from across the company to review the initiatives that were already in place, develop new ones, and review their implementation.
The program focused on the health and safety pillars that the company already had in place and consisted of online employee training, the formation of an ambassador program, the implementation of a prevention campaign, and strategic communication deployed to its employees.
While this approach has been implemented only recently, it presents itself as a high-potential opportunity for the future and is already showing signs that are extremely encouraging. The company has already observed a 10 per cent decrease in the number of accidents in the fourth quarter when compared to last year, as well as a 62 per cent decrease in the average duration in days for the same period. And, in doing so, has vastly improved its overall health and safety experience for its employees.
