Canadian Economic Dashboard and COVID-19 StatCan

Last week, Statistics Canada provided a short overview of the latest economic performance data, which is mainly from October 2020, across key sectors. Total economic activity in October was about 4% below pre-COVID levels but real GDP still rose in October and is predicted to rise again in November. Although retail sales remained strong, restaurant and bar sales, urban transit ridership and airline industries all showed negative impact from the pandemic’s second wave.
